Today 16th of April 2024, all traders, business owners in the Capital – Kampala has decided to peacefully close their business as a protest to ‘EFRIS System’ the over imposed Taxes on goods imported into the country by Uganda Revenue Authority – URA.
As of recent, businessmen and traders in Kampala raised a voice to the Government of Uganda, basically to His Excellency the President of Uganda – Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, through their heads who they say want to talk directly to himself the President over the EFRIS System.
The Lockdown which they say will take over 5days, protesting and not opening up shops for all those days. The Incident will though damage the Country’s trading and economic system, they say they don’t care because traders are always imposed over more taxes than normal.
As you More over main streets in Kampala are Blank and filled with Police, like in Kikuubo the main are for shoppers, and traders in Kampala. Kikuubo area being a busiest area and a main area where most traders shop, and do their business mostly in Kampala, is blank and filled with soldiers and Police.
Traders in Kampala and some other parts of the country like Masaka, Luwero e.t.c are protesting against the Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing Solutions (EFRIS) system by @URAuganda , in Gulu it’s business as usual as many spoken to, say they don’t know about the strike and the EFRIS system. One trader argued that the system can’t apply to items like sugar sold in retail shops.
