Comedian Maulana Kasozi, known for his role in the comedy duo Maulana and Reign, has been jailed over child neglect.
Mother Nalugya Shubira Betty, of Maulana’s three children, claims that the comedian has failed to fulfil his responsibilities as a father for the past nine months.
According to Nalugya, whenever Maulana Kasozi visits her home, he prioritizes engaging in sexual activities with her before providing a mere amount of money, either Ugx 10k or 5K, for child care.
When she refused to engage in such affairs, Maulana Kasozi insisted on taking custody of the children, which she declined, stating that they were still young.
The matter was taken to the family court at Mwanga II, where a final decision was made. Maulana was ordered to pay Nalugya Ugx 15K daily for child care and contribute towards their rent. Initially, he fulfilled the rent obligation for three months, specifically in June, July, and August of last year, but has since stopped.
Nalugya is currently facing a challenging predicament as the landlord insists on her vacating the rental property due to his request for three months’ rent.
Unfortunately, she is unable to meet this financial obligation, especially with her children’s imminent return to school. She went on to disclose that at present, Maulana is evading capture, and the court has already authorized an arrest warrant.
