Singer turned politician, Hillary Innocent Kiyaga alias Dr. Hilderman has today, 25th May, 2024 launched his much anticipated talent search audition show dubbed ‘Wokota Talent Search’ with over 400 contestants.
The Member of parliament launched the program at his hometown, Mawokota, Mpigi District with the aim of discovering and nurturing local talents. The talent search will also provide opportunities for different individuals to showcase their skills and be recognition in all areas of music, dance and drama.
Dr. Hilderman became a household name in the mid 2000’s releasing monster hits like Mazongoto, Campus Gal, Mr. Matama featuring Henry Tigan among others.
It was not all rosy, making it to where is right now, and this talent search will help uplift struggling youth looking at flourishing and developing their talents.
“These children need a helping hand. I do not want them to go through the hustles I went through to get to where I am today. This experience will provide a platform and draw attention from different parts of the country just to watch them; this is exposure,” he said.
“This will help us to identify who is really talented, to see how we can help them through connections with producers like Rinnex, Paddy Man, Dan Magic who will come and guide and nurture their talent,” he added on.
Dr. Hilderman was among the entertainers who won political seats under Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) in Uganda’s 11th Parliament during the 2021 general elections after heavily defeating Trade, Industry and Cooperatives minister Amelia Kyambadde in Mawokota North constituency.
There has been speculations that he was targeting the 2026 election to convince voters to give him a second term. In an interview with Kookie Promotions, Hilderman makes it known that the search is non political.
