Dj-ing, like many other professions, has over the years been, and become a major element that society cannot do without.

It’s a craft both men and women are equally embracing, and it’s good to see that in a country like Uganda and perhaps several other countries on the continent, the bias against Djs has waned…

Admired by many, Djs are who several call #cool. What many admire but cannot become, or wish were brave and committed enough to become.

In this blog, Onoba Allan John popularly known as Dj Noplay of BeTV Uganda shares what it means to be a Dj, and what one should know or do if they want to succeed as a Dj.

Juggling with DJ software.or learning how to use different DJ software.

Ie serato DJ , tractor, virtual dj , automatic .

When I was starting djing, I started with PC DJ red in late 2008 . I mastered it and later I was introduced to virtual DJ and serato and I hard to give them adequate time to learn how to use them and it’s better to master all djing software. You never know what tomorrow may bring …

Basic skills / starters pack

Beat matching; If you don’t want to learn beat matching, quit deejaying before you go further. No one wants to see you struggling with matching 2 songs at once. It becomes destructive and boring for the crowd.

Beat matching is achieved by;

1. Using tempo fader on your player or jog wheel so that all songs be with one bpm (beats per minute) or

2. push a pitch bend button, or touch one of your playing records to adjust phase.

Getting DJ hardware .

I guess this is the hardest episode but still you can overcome it if you are committed . You can still DJ using only your laptop but if you want to have physical control (hands control ) of your djing software, you can acquire one of these if you bank account is happy.

A Ddj sr ₹60,000/- and upgrade slowly with time. With what is fit for your budget .
