Jose Chameleone is one of the most successful artists in the history of the Ugandan music industry. He together with Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool are considered the major pillars of the industry.
Despite registering huge success in his career, the Leone Island artist is one of the few big artists that have always offered a helping hand to the upcoming stars when it comes to collaborations.
They need me. When I started my career, no on gave me a chance. I do not want any young artist to go through the same hustle I went through. When you ask me for a collaboration and you have one song, we will sing it. Many big artists do not give these young ones chances,” he said.
We have seen artists commanding a huge fanbase from Uganda and abroad but limit the collaborations they give to the young artists because they believe this stain to their brand.
“The realistic point about it, we just crammed it. There are very many people who helped me before I became Chameleone and they are proud of it. People have to help each other. What do I have to lose if I sing them.
“I rather sing with the unknown artists than the popular ones because the former need me the most. It is fun to sing with Bebe Cool but he doesn’t need that chance. Someone else needs it more,” he said in an interview.
