Ugandan LGBTIQ Activist Prossy Asiimwe has recently fled into hiding after loss of brother in gruesome murder.
The deceased – Noah Matthew, a self-proclaimed member of the LGBTIQ Community was recently found dead, lying in a pool of blood on the 8th of July 2022. It is alleged that his attackers might have used a heavy item and hit him on the head and even stubbed him several times. . Whilst his attackers are still unidentified, the attack prompted Prossy to flee the country, as it claimed the life of her brother and her status an activist left her in an even worse position.
The LGBTQ community is growing slowly but steadily, despite the resentment of many. Its members however, still face segregation, discrimination, verbal abuse and even assault in various instances. Besides a few like Noah Matthew, the majority of this community are closeted, afraid of what their exposure might birth. Prossy was a resident of Makindye division, but her whereabouts are currently undisclosed.
