Popular TV presenter Zahara Toto has announced her departure from Next Media, moving on to Startimes to practise her deejay career.
Zaharah unveiled her career move yesterday afternoon, unveiling her new program ‘Vybe Ku Vybe’ that will be airing from Monday to Friday at 8-9PMMakula Kika.
She might have been on our TVs for a long time but most people got to know Zaharah when she started presenting ‘Uncut Kalakata’, a gossip show that aired on Spark TV. Going forward, Zaharah is looking at growing her brand as a deejay because it earns her more money.
“As we look at the economy, there is no money in gossip and I can’t be a beggar. I realized my deejay career pays me more and I’m a money oriented person who goes where the money is,” she spoke to Kookie Promotions.
“Gossip did not make me. I’ve been on TV since I was seven years of age on WBS TV. I was the very first kid on WBS reading kids’ news but quit when I went to boarding school. I later joined NTV hosting TNation. So gossip came in later but Ugandans gave it more attention because that is what they like,” she said.
Earlier this year, reports circulated social media indicating that Zahara had reportedly been suspended from Next Media. Addressing the rumor, she made it clear that she made the decision to leave the station at the beginning of the year.
‘When the year was starting, I made a decision to part from Next Media and they knew all along that I would be gone very soon. Soon after that, I connected with Makula Kika and came up with something and it has been a process,’ she said.
