Ykee Benda bans Dre Cali from using his stage name following contract breach with Mpaka Records

Ykee Benda has given an update about the whereabouts of his now former artist Dre Cali who was signed under Mpaka Records.

The ‘Obangaina’ hitmaker made it known to the public that Dre Cali last appeared at the offices in January, calling in sick and dodging studio sessions.

Ykee also notes that sources reveal that Dre Cali is currently staying in Canada but he has not received any official communication from the artist.

In a recent today, the disgruntled Ykee Benda states that Dre Cali never had any disagreement with the label but chose to dump his contract and disappear without warning.

“He was our artist but disappeared without a trace. His phones went off at the end of January. I have never seen anything like it because we had no problem with him. We have been in suspense for two months now.”

Ykee Benda makes it clear that his contract with Katende Andrew alias Dre Cali is still binding and will not be able to use his stage name because it belongs to the label and he will no longer transact any business under the label

“Our company is big and doesn’t rely on one person. The name that he uses is not his, It’s a property of Mpaka Records and can’t use it anywhere. It’s our trademark” Ykee Benda revealed in an interview.

Dre Cali’s social media platforms are currently inactive and Ykee Benda says he has not replied to any of his messages, later on switching off his phones.

Dre Cali rose to fame after signing for Mpaka Records and he is known for songs like Ebisooka Nebisembayo, Ekifuba, Best Thing among others.
